I'm OK.
Digital detox dust cakes your throat as you kick in the door of another abandoned house, hoping beyond reason that the taps inside still work. You know, secretly, that your privilege will see you through. The others don’t know that though. They’re afraid of dying. Jenna’s face is tight and her eyes droop, each breath rattles. Katy’s been scratching her wrists and forearms and they’re now raw and bleeding. Sossusvlei is covered in salt and clay, her high red cheeks pointing downward. This is late industrial commodification of the very solitude and quiet that it destroys.  We’re here to celebrate that commodification, and contribute to it. Mindfulness wouldn’t make it any easier for a Namibian to go trekking in Yosemite. But why would you care about that?
